As Brazil prepares for another exciting match against South American rival Argentina, there are a number of players who have a lot to prove.

These players are either veterans trying to show they still belong in the squad, or young players who are looking to prove they deserve a prominent role in the team's future.

Let's look at three players who must shine for Brazil on Thursday.

Dede is one of the best young center-backs in the world, and he has an opportunity over the next year to become a key part of the team's defense.

Not only is Dede strong and powerful, he has impressive pace for a central defender. He also has a chance to become a real leader for Brazil.

Expect him to be an integral part of the Brazil defense and a target on set pieces because of his impressive heading ability.

Lucas

Brazilian midfielder Lucas won't join Paris Saint-Germain until January, but the young star will be with his international teammates for this week's Argentina match.

Brazilian midfielder Lucas won't join Paris Saint-Germain until January, but the young star will be with his international teammates for this week's Argentina match.

Lucas is the best central midfielder currently in the Brazilian squad, and will be responsible for scoring goals if star striker Neymar does not play in this match.

Lucas scored against China in Brazil's 8-0 win on September 11, and he will be expected to produce similar results on Thursday. The success of Brazil's attack will be determined by his performance against Argentina.

Luis Fabiano

Since making a move to Santos after a fine career in Spain with La Liga club Sevilla, Luis Fabiano hasn't been too involved in the national team.

However, he will be in the squad for the Argentina match, and brings a wealth of experience—especially on the international level—to a Brazil squad that doesn't have too many veterans.

Fabiano will no longer trouble defenders with his pace, but he makes great runs, and is always a threat to score around the penalty box.
